Absynth Obsidian is a collection of 128 sounds for NI Absynth.
This soundset is full of dark but beautiful, analogue drift and crystalline, disturbed noises. It’s twisted beauty lures you in like the legendary Sirens of Greek myth, but it is a dangerous song that it sings.
Absynth Obsidian contains a world of unusual textures: analogue synths recorded to VHS, taped ambiences cut up and pushed out through valves and tubes. Unhinged leads, wandering pads, bitter soundscapes, murderous basses, obscure pianos and granular sequences.
If you’re a fan of experimental artists like Boards of Canada, Ben Frost, Celer or The Haxan Cloak, there’ll be something in Obsidian for you. There are also nods to soundtracks such as Sunshine by John Murphy/Underworld and Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Trent Reznor/Atticuss Ross.
Equally adept for scoring mesmerising, dystopian futures or an unsettlingly, aesthetic present: Obsidian is a world where darkness and light don’t know whether to kiss or kill each other.
